The statewide Community College Public Relations Organization is a professional development and service organization that seeks to promote excellence in California’s community college public relations and related professions. The organization serves as a central resource of information and provides counsel and assistance relating to the advancement of community colleges statewide and the professional growth of its members.
The 2019 CCPRO conference in San Diego demonstrated the immense value that our organization provides. Conference attendees, both veterans and freshman, learned some tips and tricks about the rapidly and constantly evolving world of communicating, public relations, marketing, and advocating on behalf of California Community College. Workshops offered tactics on how to do our jobs better and celebrated the hard work occurring in our professions around our colleges and districts. Of course, much of the best value from the conference came from the informal networking, strategy development, brainstorming, and support seemed to occur during all facets of the conference.
Putting on a conference is a tremendous amount of work, particularly for an all-volunteer organization like CCPRO. I’d like to thank the CCPRO Board and everyone who helped with the conference. If you would like to learn more about CCPRO or help with the 2020 conference, please contact me or a CCPRO board member.
CCPRO is a success because of the support of community college marketers across California. When the call goes out to submit your best work for the CCPRO Awards, be sure to gather together your best work so you’ll have a chance for it to get the recognition it deserves. And consider submitting a request to conduct a workshop at the annual CCPRO conference – it’s your way to share your knowledge and spread the good ideas that can benefit other CCPRO members.
In 2020, CCPRO is going North and look forward to seeing all of you in Lake Tahoe.
Can’t wait to see you in April 2020!
